DenBuddy

Cubmasters and pack committees

DenBuddy for Cubmasters

For a Cubmaster, DenBuddy is the thing you hand a new den leader in August so their first meeting is not a panic. Every den plans from its own advancement gaps, the pack plan gives you a view across all of them, and nobody has to chase a spreadsheet in April.

You cannot plan six dens yourself. You can give six den leaders the same starting point and see which den is drifting before May.

Sound familiar

  • Two of your six dens are quietly not advancing anybody, and you will find out at crossover.
  • Every new den leader starts from zero, and half of them quit before they get good at it.
  • Pack records live in Scoutbook, den plans live in someone's notebook, and the two never meet.
  • You are the one who notices in April that a Webelos den is three adventures short of Arrow of Light.

What it looks like

How it goes, in order

  1. Get the dens in

Each den leader imports their own den from Scoutbook Plus with the extension, in their own session. Nobody shares a Scouting login, and nobody re-types a roster.

  2. Give every den the same starting point

New leaders open the planner with their gaps already loaded, and can fork a community plan rather than inventing a meeting. That is the difference between a leader who lasts a year and one who lasts three.

  3. Watch the pack, not the paperwork

The Pack plan adds a pack-admin view across every den, so you can see which dens are meeting, which are advancing, and where to put your help in January instead of May.

The parts you will use most

See exactly what each Scout still needs

Advancement gap analysis

A per-Scout, per-requirement view of the whole den, with Bobcat first and a clear answer to the only question that matters in April: who is ready for rank.

Borrow a den meeting that already worked

Community plan library

Browse plans other leaders have published, fork one into your own meeting, and share yours back with every Scout name, den and date scrubbed out.

Your roster and advancement, without retyping any of it

Scoutbook Plus import

The DenBuddy Sync extension reads your den from Scoutbook Plus in your own browser session and brings it into DenBuddy. Reads always; writes only when you press Send.

Turn Tuesday at 6:30 into a run-ready agenda

Den meeting planner

Build the agenda from the requirements your Scouts still need, with block times, materials and a coverage meter that tells a full meeting from a busy one.

Youth protection is built in

  • Scouts have no accounts and cannot be messaged.
  • Check-in is parent-mediated and carries no full last names.
  • DenBuddy reads Scoutbook Plus always, and writes back only when you press Send.

Questions before you start

Who pays for the Pack plan?

Nobody, today. DenBuddy is free while we launch, pack features included. When pack pricing arrives it will be billed to the pack from the unit account, not expensed by a volunteer, and we will publish the price before anyone is asked to pay it.

Can den leaders see each other's dens?

No. Access is den-scoped: a den leader sees their own den. Pack admins see the pack. That is enforced in the software, not by policy.

Does this replace Scoutbook for the pack?

No. Scoutbook stays the record your council reads. DenBuddy is the planning and running layer on top of it, and advancement goes back as a CSV upload.

What happens when a den leader quits mid-year?

The den's meetings, attendance and advancement stay with the den. Hand the den to the next leader and they inherit the work rather than starting over.
