The rules for using DenBuddy, written to be read. Effective 2026-09-16.
Effective 2026-09-16
Who may use DenBuddy
You must be an adult, at least 18 years old, and you must have a legitimate role with the Scouts whose data you handle: a registered leader, a pack volunteer, or a parent of a Scout in the den. Accounts are for people, not shared logins. DenBuddy is not for children, and you may not create an account on behalf of one.
Your account
Keep your password to yourself and tell us at hello@denbuddy.com if you think somebody else has it. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Roles determine what you can see: den leaders see their den, pack admins see the pack, parents see their own Scout.
Youth data, and the rules that come with it
You may only enter or import data about Scouts you are entitled to support, and you are responsible for having parent consent for what you record, including photos. Do not use DenBuddy to contact a child directly. Do not attempt to create an account for a minor. Follow your unit's Youth Protection obligations, which are unchanged by using this software.
We may suspend an account that puts young people at risk, and we would rather do that quickly than politely.
Acceptable use
Do not break the law, interfere with the service, attempt to reach other units' data, scrape the product, or resell access. Do not upload anything you do not have the right to share. Content you publish to the community library must be your own work and must not contain a Scout's personal information.
Scoutbook and Scouting America
DenBuddy is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Scouting America. Scoutbook, Cub Scouts, the rank names and the adventure names are their trademarks, referred to here only to describe compatibility. Requirement text is their copyright; our pages paraphrase and link to the official source.
The DenBuddy Sync extension reads your own Scoutbook Plus session at your direction, and writes back to it only when you press Send. You are responsible for complying with Scouting America's own terms for your account. Scoutbook remains your official record.
Your content
Your den's data is yours. We do not claim ownership of it and we do not use it to advertise. When you publish a plan to the community library, you give other leaders permission to read, fork and adapt it inside DenBuddy, and you give us permission to display it there. You can ask us to take a published plan down.
Plans, billing and cancellation
DenBuddy is free while we launch. One den is free forever, and the pack features are switched on for every account at no charge. There is nothing to buy, nothing to cancel and no subscription to renew.
Pack pricing is planned. When it arrives we will publish the price and the terms that go with it, including how renewal, cancellation and refunds work, before any pack is asked to pay. A den keeps the free plan either way, and we do not delete your data.
Availability, and what this software is not
DenBuddy is provided as it is, without warranties. We work to keep it running and we will tell you honestly when something is broken, but we cannot promise uninterrupted service, and the Scoutbook Plus import in particular depends on a system we do not control.
DenBuddy is a planning tool. It is not official advancement recording, not medical advice, and not a substitute for your unit's Youth Protection training or your council's requirements.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, DenBuddy is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. For most packs that is 69 dollars, and for most den leaders it is nothing, which is a fair reflection of what a small volunteer tool can carry.
Ending it
You can stop using DenBuddy at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, puts youth at risk, or is used to harm the service, and we will tell you why when we can.
Changes and contact
We will update these terms from time to time and change the effective date. Significant changes are emailed to account holders. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which DenBuddy is operated. Questions go to hello@denbuddy.com.

Plan your next den meeting
Connect Scoutbook Plus, see what your Scouts still need, and build the agenda from the gaps. One den is free, and nothing in Scoutbook changes while you try it.
Free for one den. No credit card. Works with Scoutbook Plus.
