DenBuddy

Parents and adult partners

DenBuddy for parents

Parents use DenBuddy for two things: checking a Scout in at the meeting, which takes one tap on a link or QR code and no account, and seeing what their own Scout has finished. Children have no accounts, no messaging and no profiles here. That is a design decision, not a setting.

Check your Scout in at the door, see what they have finished, and know exactly what DenBuddy does and does not hold about your child.

Sound familiar

  • You are not sure whether the requirement your Scout did at home was ever recorded.
  • Check-in is a clipboard, and you are holding a younger sibling.
  • You have no idea what your Scout still needs before the next badge ceremony.
  • You would like to know exactly what an app holds about your child before you touch it.

What it looks like

How it goes, in order

  1. Check in with a link

The leader posts a link or holds up a QR code. You open it, mark your Scout present, and you are done. No account, no download, no password. The page carries no full last names and no contact details.

  2. See your own Scout

A parent account shows your Scout and only your Scout: what is finished, what is still open, and what the den is working on next. You never see another family's child.

  3. Know where the record lives

Scoutbook is still the official record. What a leader records in DenBuddy is exported and uploaded there, so your Scout's advancement ends up where your council can see it.

The parts you will use most

A link and a QR code, no accounts at the door

Parent check-in and attendance

Publish the meeting and DenBuddy hands you a check-in link and QR code. Parents mark their Scout present. Nobody signs in, and no Scout has an account.

Advancement gap analysis

A per-Scout, per-requirement view of the whole den, with Bobcat first and a clear answer to the only question that matters in April: who is ready for rank.

Youth protection is built in

  • Scouts have no accounts and cannot be messaged.
  • Check-in is parent-mediated and carries no full last names.
  • DenBuddy reads Scoutbook Plus always, and writes back only when you press Send.

Questions before you start

Does my child get an account?

No. DenBuddy does not create accounts for youth under any circumstances, and there is no way for a child to sign up.

Can anyone message my Scout through DenBuddy?

No. There is no direct messaging to Scouts at all. Communication goes to parents and leaders.

What information does DenBuddy hold about my child?

Name, den and rank, what requirements they have completed, and attendance. Photos and any medical notes are only present if your leader adds them with your permission, and you can ask for your Scout's data to be deleted.

Who can see my Scout's record?

Your Scout's den leaders, your pack's admins, and you. Not other parents, and not other dens.

Somebody else in your pack

DenBuddy for den leaders

You were volunteered in August and the first meeting is Tuesday. DenBuddy gets you from an empty calendar to a run-ready plan in one sitting.

DenBuddy for Cubmasters

You cannot plan six dens yourself. You can give six den leaders the same starting point and see which den is drifting before May.

Adventures by rank

Every Cub Scout rank and adventure, with a 60 minute den meeting plan for each one. Free to read, no account.
